Re: Elka Shocks

I have an Elka and it seems alright. More adjustability than stock but I'm not sure how easily you can have it serviced. Price is comparable to Ohlins, I would buy Ohlins if I had a choice.

Re: Elka Shocks

Unless you can get a screaming deal, it doesn't make sense.

Ohlins is really the standard, and most suspension places are familiar with them and have the tools to service them.

Re: Elka Shocks

Ohlins is the one to go for. People have more knowledge about them and its so easy to get them serviced.

Re: Elka Shocks

I have one on my 954...I like it. They are huge in the 4 wheeler market, so even though I havn't tried to get it serviced, I doubt it will be a problem

Re: Elka Shocks

Awesome feeback. Keep it coming! Heres my angle.... the manufacturer is local to where I live... Montreal, Canada. So if I have any issues, the engineers are at my disposal so to speak. The other thing is the high/low speed adjustable model is not available for the 98/99 CBR900. The price I got is worthwhile (IMO) to risk going away from an Ohlins. ANy other comments appreciated...Thanks

There are plenty of posts extoling issues with Max, and they capture Abtech's opinion pretty well. A quick search should be able to answer your questions.

Because you "can't always get what you want" at Max's. You can give them a lot of money, but regardless of what you want, they will give you "what you need".

At least based on their latest spin . . .

Several people have had good luck with Max.

Having said that, he totally beaned me and several other racers for upwards of 1100.00 for making the bike handle much worse than stock (or at least no better than stock).

I was lied to by three different employees and then Max himself as to what was up with my 929 forks. Many people have spent the money with Traxxion, only to have to spend it again with someone else who actually had the gift of listening (and the capability to make the suspension components do what they were supposed to).

i feel the same way about other suspension tuners, mainly CTR with jon.. i started off with him spent some time and money, i never knew what changes he made to the bike... he always seemed like it was inconveniencing him by me being there... i know some guys swear by dan, some guys swear by max, some guys swear by thermosman
