900rr Single Sided Swing Arm Conversion

After reading many posts on how easy it is to put a VFR750 swingarm on my CBR900rr I finally aquired the parts needed and dove into the project.

Everthing that I had read up on said that all I would besides the swing arm and wheel was a spacer and a couple of washers. Well not exactly.

Here is what I used from the CBR
1. Rear shock

2. Shock link - I had the one from the VFR but never tried it - I don't know if it would work

What I used from the VFR

1. Swing arm with back brake and brake line

2. Rear Wheel

3. Rear Sprocket

I had to make a spacer - I used the dimentions from one of the postings 25mm x 20mm with a 20mm hole. I worked ok but I wish it were a little longer to center the pivot bolt a little better. - too much sticking out on the left side when every thing was tight.
Everything bolted on with ease and I had no problems unitl it came time to put my chain back on .
The VFR uses a 530 sporcket my CBR had a 525. I couldn't find a 530 for a CBR or a 525 for a VFR so. By chance I tried a 530 VFR front on the CBR output shaft and it fit.

Extra stuff that I had to buy
1. New front sprocket
2. Chain - (those arn't cheap)
3. Chain tightening wrench - Need a spanner to tighten on the VFR

Still an easy switch if you have all the right parts when you start. I hope this helps anyone who is interested.

Nice first post, welcome.

Pics would be awesome for those that might want to do it themselves.

Did you get a chance to weigh the 2 units side by side?

Re: 900rr Single Sided Swing Arm Conversion

Wow, that look clean. I have a 954, i have always wanted to get a single swing arm for it, but don't want to pay someone to make it a "Custom" one. Very very nice job.

Re: 900rr Single Sided Swing Arm Conversion

Been nice the last few days so I been able to get out on it, the handling wasnt affected by the changed out swing arm even though it is slightly longer wheel base now. The R1 race baffels and the extra 3 teeth on the back sprocket gives it the feeling of fitting a turbo lol.

Re: 900rr Single Sided Swing Arm Conversion

Had a few small problems like rear sets position needed to be adjusted, but nothing much really.
