954 turn signal leds/relay/ resistor/ question

I have done some research re: Led turn signals on a 954. but have not found a definite answer to my question. First some background.
The bikes turn signal relay is an on board unit within the instrument cluster. It seems clear that with the reduced load of the leds the leds either flash quickly or do not at all. This can be fixed by installing a 10 ohm 25 watt resistor in parallel on each trun signal circuit with some heat generated.

I am not planning using running lights, just the blinkers.

Question; has anyone installed a relay (or 2, one for each side) on the blinkers circuit down steam of the on board one? with out having to install resistors. Would this fix the problem? or is installing 4 resistors the only option with the 954.
