Anyone ever used a +1 front sprocket?

not your normal application.....but my 954 is streetfightered with DB bars and will be for endo competition.

I'm wanting the chain to turn as smoothly as possible, so the bigger the front sprocket the smoother, or less vibration, you get. I have a stock front but will need to get a 520 pitch front that will match my new chain and Geared 50 tooth rear sprocket, but I'm wanting to get a 17 tooth front if I can. I have found the part number thru Sprocket Specialists, but when I called them they said there was a notation of a clearance issue.....I don't want to spend $40 with them to find out it won't work!

SO, if you've used a 17 tooth front sprocket on your 954 lemme know how well it fit and iff you had to modify anything, as I don't want to do anything that could sacrifice the case's integrity!

Thanks.

Re: Anyone ever used a +1 front sprocket?

nope - i went for 1 tooth less !!

IMHO i'd gamble the forty bucks - i wish some of my ill informed purchases had been so cheap...

you could ask the supplier what the diameter is..

MIGHT fit with no spocket cover..

Re: Anyone ever used a +1 front sprocket?

I ended up getting a stock 16 tooth 520 front sprocket........even with the guard off I can't imagine there would be enough room considering how tight the 16 fits in there.

it WOULD fit if you were to grind some of the cast chainguard peice off of the motor.....if you look at the clutch side of the motor you'll see what I'm talking about....the stator cover and everything else is farther forward and out of the way......you could fit a 20 tooth front if you wanted if the cast peice that would hold the case protector wasn't there
