Is this a deal? Opinions?

I'm thinking of upgrading from my 94 900RR to a 2000 929RR.

I saw one for sale that looks great.

2000 CBR 929RR 49 STATE
$3500

19,xxx miles

Clean title

Movistar fairing kit

lots of new stuff

Viper alarm w/ starter disable and digital tilt sensor

New chain, recent tune up, new sprockets, new alarm

Seller said that he just had a major tune up and got the valves adjusted, K&N, plugs, etc.

Movistar fairings look great except for the tank which was painted black?

KBB retail is $5610
KBB trade in is $3870

Am I crazy or should I go pick this up!?!

Re: Is this a deal? Opinions?

If this is legit, it sounds like a helluva deal. Have you seen it in person? For that price you can afford to take it to a reputable shop and have them check it over. If it's kosher, why not? I just sold my 1996 900RR this past summer for $3500.

Edit: Let's see some pics with these fairings, I'm very curious!

Re: Is this a deal? Opinions?

IT would be worth more with the factory paint. Honestly the 929 is a great bike but they can be bought pretty cheap now. I have been thinking of selling mine but based on ebay prices of recently closed auctions I won't. For the money its a great bike.

You can probably get a 929 with factory paint for that price.
On the other hand the 954 still sells for pretty high.

Its not a bad deal if you like the paint job, but if not try looking a little longer. I have the navy/yellow euro color 929 which is not common in the US and I don't think I could get $4000 for it.
Also take the K&N out and put an OEM filter back in.

It sounds fair. Make sure that it has a clean title. Also remember that this time of year is a buyers market for motorcycles and if you need the $$ you may have a hard time selling your 900.

Re: Is this a deal? Opinions?

Here's a pic. I think I do like the paint. The tank is grey in this pick. He said it has been painted black since then.

Sounds like he just isn't using it, and is just getting rid of it. He owns his own business, and isn't around all that much.

I think that it has a gas tank cover or somthing that probably came with the plastics kit.

It looks like those cheap ebay plastic kits. cool looking but wonder how it holds up. definetly check if it is salvaged.

Aliens general, everything about them is alien!

I was thinking that too. there's a thread on here about the Repsol 954 fairings from ebay. he said the fit was terrible and he had to stretch and bend and crack one of the fairings to get them to fit. check the fit on them. seems like a good deal otherwise.

if you can't convince them, confuse them.

Re: Is this a deal? Opinions?

He said clean title. I'll have to see it in person to guage the quality of the kit. He's at the SEMA show until Tuesday. I'll see the bike then.
