track plastic mounting

Ok so I am getting my 1000RR track ready so I can start really learning to ride this thing.

I have my track plastic ready to start mounting but I do have a question to those who have done this before. Do I keep the inner upper fairing plastics?
These are the ones that trim the radiator and hold the fuse box and all.
thanks

Re: track plastic mounting

I have not done a 1000rr but if you can get rid of it do it.

It's amazing how stupid some people can be.

Re: track plastic mounting

You don't need those plastics for mounting anything. Get rid of them. If you have any questions PM me, I've been racing a 1000RR for three years now.

Re: track plastic mounting

cool

i have the tail, tank cover, fender and lower plastic on and just took the upper cowl off before i called it a day

the 06 looks like i only need 1 DZUS fastner to connect the upper to lower so that is a relief.

so far the only hiccup i have ran into with my cheetah plastic is that the tank cover was about 1/4 inch not lining up to the front holes
rear holes and gas tank cut out were perfect but the front just wont stretch far enough so i am just going to zip tie them on

i am guessing that the bank angle senser just needs to be zipped to the fairing stay once removed from the oem cowl

Re: track plastic mounting

Cheetah bodywork is junk....sorry you have to endure it. You should put at least two Dzus fasteners per side to hold the upper to the lower, I use three actually. You can either put a spacer in the front of the tank cover or just put enough tension on the mounting bolt so not to crack through the fiberglass. I removed my bank angle sensor all together. We had a problem with our 600rr's cutting out mid corner at full lean with them on, didn't want the same thing to happen on the 1000's so we just took them all off. Just be sure to turn the bike off when you fall down or your blow your motor for lack of oil.

Re: track plastic mounting

so far every hole has lined up with the exception of the tank

i would have like to have gotten sharkskinz but the entire kit was 450 bucks
i couldnt pass that up

there isnt enough room for more than 1
the upper and lower only connect on an area about 2" wide

the 04/05 bodywork connects in a larger area but where the upper and lower touch without a predrilled hole for an oem bracket it is only 2"
