Re: Undertails

Before you guys flame me. Yes, I've read and searched the articles on this board for undertails.

I just want to know are there any undertails that does not require cutting? Not that I can't do it but I can't seem to come to terms with cutting up my brand new 2003 Blade! Know what I mean.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Undertails

Luke, unless I have missed something, you will need to cut the big azz flap off anyway to see the undertail. So you would have to cut on any undertail.

its really not too bad. just take you time.

Team Honda - well sorta...

Re: Undertails

No,the mud flap just unbolts. That was the first mod that I done to the bike. Thanks anyway. I guess I'll have to suck it up and take your advice and take my time.

Re: Undertails

I think the Competition Werks Undertails may not need cutting, but I am not sure. I think all undertails will need to be cut.

Re: Undertails

You've already unbloted the mudflap, so what's the problem? *Mudflap gone = no need for aftermarket undertail and no need to cut anything.

Re: Undertails

Once you remove the mudflap you're done. Anything on the bottom is going to get pelted with rocks anywhoo. Just make a bracket for the plate.

Another great site to visit.

Re: Undertails

true, true. I guess I was hung up on the neatness of the turn signals with a undertail. Like the one from 'Texas faring'. I think that I'm going to get the intergrated one from tobefast.com becaue the one's I have now are hard to see in the daytime. Thanks for the input guys.

Re: Undertails

I have the Texas fairing undertail on my 954 and it fit great and looks awesome, I highly recommend getting it if you are a freak for a clean neat look, like I am. Goodluck

Re: Undertails

Speaking of rock chips. I have a hotbodies undertail on my 929. I took the undertail to a place that installs clear 3M chip guard to cars. Its basically clear tape. The undertai is made of fiberglass which chips VERY easy. $25 and 30min. of time and you have a clear protective layer on your undertail. I have had mine for 3K miles and no chips.

Re: Undertails

True that. *The Hotbodies undertail does chip. *It doesn't bother me much and I still think it is the best looking undertail. As far as cutting, use a Dremel and take your time making sure you don't cut too much off.

Re: Undertails

The Competition Works undertail needs cutting, i have one on my bike. Get this, it looks nice on the bike with the stainless undertail and the license plate bracket lifted into the trunk a bit, but.....it doesn't fit a 'normal' sized plate. I had to 'modify' the plate a bit with a dremel tool. It doesnt take long to do though, if you have the right tools!!
