oil leak

I have now 700 miles on my 06 1krr, change my oil at 450. This weekend was very nice and me some guys took some twisty roads to the lake shore. I was getting on her very hard- the bike was fantastic, I had blast. When I got to the beach and park it I noticed oil leaking from my fill cap. I gave it turn but it was tite. I took it off and cheked for dirt around the seal or any cracks, all looked fine. I put it back on and the contact of the oring felt fine. I headed back home, bout a 1.5 hour cruise, getting on her pretty hard again and when I got home noticed it leaking again. crank case presure? Any body else run into this?

Re: oil leak

Buy it new? Still have a warranty? At only 700 miles it would be back at the stealership if it were mine.

Re: oil leak

I know I was surprised. I had to go knock down some old guy and steal his nitro pills so that I didn't have a heart attack myself

Re: oil leak

sounds like a bad seal on the fill cap.....should run you about oh, maybe 50 cents to a dollar to replace ! Why would you even consider bringing it to the dealer for that ? Home depot or Lowes probably has a seal would fit.Maybe you over tightened it the first time and damaged the seal.......or maybe even check to make sure the gasket is still on the cap

I don't care if it is only 50 cents. It's under warranty. Why pay a penny out of pocket if you don't have to?
Plus, you have documentation that you took it in for that specific problem in case something down the road happens.
And, if it isn't the 50 cent seal, then you're out both time and money to jack with something that didn't help the problem.

That's just my two cents though and most people demand change.

Re: oil leak

i'd rather pay 50 cents out of my pocket for a new seal, than have the dealer have control of my bike for something so small. You want some punk just out of school potentially F*cking up your ride ,because you didn't feel like spending 50 cents for a friggin seal ? Go ahead, not my bag though . Ask around here about how these guys complain about the dealer doing work incorrectly, from loose bolts ,to valves not adjusted properly ,etc etc. etc....Something major ,fine ,let them fix it under warranty - but for a 50 cent seal ? come on now

Re: oil leak

Renegade, I agree with you! I am above average in the machanical ability. I was a certified machanic when in college, now I am a cnc/ robotics tech. I have way more skill and hands on than any dealer punk still in school, besides hes probly getting stoned at lunch, I was young once, haha. The seal feels fine? But I will try to get a new one from the dealer for free and install it myself. I am just conerned that there is something else wrong? I will let you know what I come up with. Its f*ckin new d*mnit, I hate leaks!!!
