more power on my 2005 CBR 1000RR

Hi there, 2 years ago i sold my 2005 R1. Now i just bought this 2005 CBR 1000 with the nipples still on the tyres and only 1800 k's on the speedo.
Now, i need some help. The bike seems to be a bit gutless. Don't get me wrong, it goes pretty hard but it just seems to be a bit boring. I mean the R1 just came alive. But this 1000cc Blade doesn't do to much at all. Should it stand up on th back wheel in 2nd with out the clutch. Or is it just me being a wanker.. Is this bike as powerful and as fast as the R1 of the same model..
Other than mufflers and things like that, is there anything i could do to give it more power. In the mid range would be good.
Cheers.
Grant from Australia..

Re: more power on my 2005 CBR 1000RR

Check "flapper mod." I have a 2-exit Jardine carbon s/o, K&N filters (yes I know BMC are better), "flapper," and a programmer (no custom map)... on my 07. This thing really wails. Also, the Honda will loosen up with time. Roll a few more clicks on and she will come alive. Good luck.

Re: more power on my 2005 CBR 1000RR

Thanks mate, but yours is a 07 and mine is a 05. Isn't there a big difference in power in the 2 bikes, or are they much the same. Also what is the flapper mod. Sorry.
Thanks mate.

Re: more power on my 2005 CBR 1000RR

I have an '05 also. I needed to get the PowerCommander, a Sato exaust and do the flapper mod. Also the BMC filters will help loosen things up. I did have to wait till I hit about 1500 miles before it really started to breathe.

You should then go have the thing mapped on a Dyno. I just happen to know someone with the exact setup so I used their custom map, I realize no two bikes are the same, but it made a HUGE difference. I have 3 kids and too many bikes to pay for the dyno right now...

Never rode an R1 but I hear that they are ripper on top end...

Flapper mod is explained thoroughly here.

Re: more power on my 2005 CBR 1000RR

My friend has a 2005 1000rr with a +5 rear sprocket, Devil slip on, and PC3. It has way more power than my 929 and will power wheelie in 2nd no problem for the wow factor if that's what you're after. The sprocket made the biggest difference.

The sprocket does make a huge difference, I dropped my front sprocket to a 15tooth and now I have to be carefull pulling it up in 1st gear, its ready to loop over. Now it's second gear wheelies all the way, + 0 to 60 is much quicker. The sprocket was only 30$ cheap mod and great gains!!

Re: more power on my 2005 CBR 1000RR

My 05 has Jardine Dual outlet slip-on, PCIII programmed for a Jardine slip-on, flapper mod and I can power the front off the ground in 1st or 2nd, I think I'll try to drop a tooth on the front sprocket next...

DOH!!!!

Grant, I am not the best at suspension set ups, but I know people would like to know your weight, riding style, and any current issues. Good luck

I haven't gotten serious with my suspension yet, just kinda made minor adjustments seeing as it hasn't seen any hard curves yet
