cbr 900 rr `95 - Pimp my Exhaust

hi guys .

I got a `95 cbr900rr bike with stock exhaust on it. Sound more like a scooter than like a real bike that it is . The ideal thing is to buy a new exhaust .. arrow or akrapovic i had in mind, but that will be in the near by future. No dinero for that right now.

SO the thing is that i want to cut of my stock exhaust and take out his guts, maybe cut a few inches .. make it smaller, but I DONT HAVE A CLUE how.

My saw is prepered .. just need somebody to tell me how to do it .

A step by step tutorial ... or some photos .. would be more than enough. Enybody has done this ? How it would sound after the " surgery " ?.
I saw a similar operation on a R6 and the bike sound cool.

thanks guys !

Re: cbr 900 rr `95 - Pimp my Exhaust

Unless you can Tig weld, you can't do it. See how your exhaust is welded at both ends...if you cut it down, you need to replicate the weld to close the can off again.

Sorry.

Re: cbr 900 rr `95 - Pimp my Exhaust

to sime.

i knew that after cuting .. i will have to weld it . welding is not a problem. I know a local tig welder. i had a few road incidents and he welded very well a gear shifter and a brake handle, i`m sure that he can weld my exhaust to.

so ... instructions please

Re: cbr 900 rr `95 - Pimp my Exhaust

Nexus, that being the case, if you cut the exhaust to the length you want, as I haven't taken a stock can apart before, I can't guarantee this, but you should find that the inside of the muffler has a perforated stainless steel insert running through the middle, and the outer should be insulation. Just trim these down to size and reweld the end cap back on.

Hey, how did the Americans botch up the story of Dracula so badly lol. He was a leader/dictator who liked to murder people by means of unspeakable torture. How Braham Stroker ever turned him into a vampire? wtf. Buddies i work with are from Romania. Yeah my Romanian language/speaking/writting is terrible i know lol.

Re: cbr 900 rr `95 - Pimp my Exhaust

i`m back ... 10 cm shorter, 1 kg lighter, 100+db louder. My can is now empty. I took out everything ! all the pipes, the insulator, the perforated stainless steal .. ALL.

and ..

all went fine . The sound of the bike ... well .. it`s a killer . 60 minutes job and 15usd cost - the welding. Should work just fine untill i spare some extra buks for a new exhaust.

Re: cbr 900 rr `95 - Pimp my Exhaust

I like it, good idea. I might just do that and leave it that way. The cost of aftermarket exhaust is ridiculous in my opinion. You must have known the welder to do it that cheap. Did it affect the performance much either way? Thanks.
