Re: do i keep the heat shield...help

I've heard carbon exhaust cans don't get hot so it shouldn't melt your bike. If there is a heat shield for the actuall pipe you may need to reuse it. I would look up pictures of other users Blades with an aftermarket exhaust.. i think they pull the heat shields off, but i'm not 100% on that.

Re: do i keep the heat shield...help

if you can keep the heat shield it might be a good idea to do so if it doesn't look too bad. The less heat transfer to your backside the better!

Re: do i keep the heat shield...help

I ditched the heat shield when installing my new pipe. No big deal. Had it custom mapped on a dyno a week/two later. No issues of yet. BTW... Jardine 2-exit carbon s/o. Good luck.

Re: do i keep the heat shield...help

i ended up cutting off the heat shield about a half inch past the two hangers on the back of the tail. it still protects the plastic from the pipe but doesnt show.

Re: do i keep the heat shield...help

I installed a Scorpion carbon fiber exhaust and removed the stock heat shield. They gave me some 'peel-and-stick' heat reflective material that I used under the seat and battery housing. It is a little warmer, but no melting after 1000 miles or so.
