95 blade regulator/rectifier relocation (Sime)

Hi buddy, just a quick one... Just wondering if you have a pic of your relocation of the Rec Reg? I spent about an hour pissing around trying to find a new position for it but without extending the wires i'm having trouble finding somewhere else to put it.

Cheers buddy

Re: 95 blade regulator/rectifier relocation (Sime)

Sure thing...

http://www.rrzone.com/forums/attachm...8&d=1161825330

I bought a piece of 3mm thick aluminum and cut it to the profile of the subframe. I then sanded back the clear anodizing on the subframe, clamped the piece to the subframe, and then used 3 big rivets to attach it. I then took it to a welder who Tig welded the part (but that's not essential).

After mounting the rectifier, I ran a thick ground wire directly from the rectifier to the battery negative. And because the bottom part of the piece I used to mount the rectifier only butted up against the lower subframe arm (couldn't get it flush because the lower tube is bent toward the frame), I used JB-Weld to create a smooth fill.

Then I powdercoated the subframe and it all looked like it was meant to be there! If you didn't want to powdercoat, you could just as easily mask that section and spray paint it with a pressure pack can to match the subframe!
