[email protected]@er - Got done an ebay kipper!

Well spent Sat trying to fit the sssa conversion on my Blade. Cleaned it all up, sorted out the bearing and stripped it down checked and reassembled. So I fitted it, all the spacers I made fitted and the main pivot was all in. Went to connect the linkage.... Ang on a minuet, it don't bloody fit.

I was clearly advertised as for a Blade conversion but further research has showed this was a pre 94 VFR swingarm and the shock linkage is totally different and not compatible

So i'm gonna give Harris a call today and see if they can help out with custom shock linkage, but if they cant i'm gonna have to go through all the bloody ebay / paypal complaints bollox and try to get my money back on it.

Its fecking arse cos i'm going away for my euro trip on it at the end of July and it currently looks like this...

"Got done an ebay kipper"......can you please translate that for us? I haven't the foggiest what you said!

I don't think that a linkage will work. Your best bet is to get a 94-97 swingarm. Sorry to read of your woes.

Re: [email protected]@er - Got done an ebay kipper!

Could it be you have the triangle plates bolted on wrong? It's hard to tell by just looking at pictures, sorry. How about having some spacers made to fill the gap? Won't work?

Man, you are messy... look at all that black stuff on the ground below your bike.

Nah mate. It won't. The relationship of the mounting points is all backward. On the 94-97 swingarm, the 'stirrup' of the shock fits over the shock mount bung, and then the bolt goes through the assembly (just like on the regular swingarm).

On the one Darkstar has, you can see that the mount is hollow in the middle, so there is nowehere for the 900RR shock to bolt up to.

Also, the angle/position of the mount would probably throw the swingarm angle off too. Best to do as Darkstar has done and get the correct swingarm to start with.

Cheers,
Sime

Re: [email protected]@er - Got done an ebay kipper!

Yeah thats what I thought would be best in the long run... I have come this far and spent so fecking much money it seemed ridicules to start pissing around with the swingarm... Esp as its such an important bit.

The new set is ordered and paid for... Better deal than the last one too... For £245 I got the swingarm, 5.5 wheel, shock, caliper, shock linkage, brake line, chain, both sprockets and an SSSA paddock stand!

Should be here by the weekend so I should be back on track pretty soon. Good job as the clock is ticking tio my Euro trip end of July and I ain't got time to wait lol.

Sure am.... Dover to Dunkirk to Amsterdam to Germany (ring) then heading south south south through Switzerland into Spain, then back up through the Pyrenees up to the Alps then back across France.

We managed 4000 miles in a week last year, were going for 2 weeks this time

"you guys spawned the language, learn how to ****ing speak it" (or something like that, I don't even remember what movie its from)

make sure to post pics once you're done.
I just put a 954 swingarm on my bike this past weekend. much easier process though as a lot of parts are similar and interchangeable between the bikes.

if you can't convince them, confuse them.

I wouldn't use the chain or sprockets......I'd buy brand new ones. But that's just me.

Might see you there. I'm doing 3 Ring trips this year (just done one)

Did the Alps last year 3,500 in a week, mind you I was on my VFR and not the Blade.....

Cheers
