Opinions Wanted

I'm getting my 95 900RR ready to sell. Here's my question to you..

would you be more apt to buy a used bike if it had a nice slip on exhaust, or would stock or aftermarket exhaust even matter to you in your decision? I'm thinking mostly of the sound factor when starting it up for a potential buyer.

Re: Opinions Wanted

I still haven't decided which make/model of bike i would like to own next. For now the funds from selling the bike will go into my business to grow it. I plan on painting/airbrushing motorcycles and some other stuff hopefully.

Re: Opinions Wanted

Sell it stock and if the buyer seems like a person who wants to mod, then offer them the exhaust as an extra.

Re: Opinions Wanted

I haven't purchased the aftermarket can. I just thought if most people here said yes for aftermarket i would buy one for it. I just got a new(used)stock can in bare aluminum, I want to polish it so it shines up like chrome. Currently the can on the bike is gloss black.

Re: Opinions Wanted

for the money you're going to spend on an aftermarket exhaust you're going to be hard pressed to make it up. unless you have numerous aftermarket mods you are going to lose out. depreciation is a bitch.

Re: Opinions Wanted

i'd rather have an aftermarket on it, as the other guy said,it'd one less thing to buy.you can also offer the stock set up with the bike if the buyer doesn't like the sound of the slip on.mine came with a polished D&D, and i'm glad it did, because that would have been another $300 or so out of my pocket ,plus i like the way it looks and sounds, others might not, but who cares ! Good luck with your business

Re: Opinions Wanted

as a buyer it makes it easier cause the can's already on it, and it sounds good, but overall your bike being older, you won't make alot of the money back that you spend on the exhaust

Re: Opinions Wanted

If i sell the bike ( my mind is always changing in a state of fluctuation ) i would already be loosing some money. I estimate i have put a total of $4,000 into the bike, but now it has a broken upper fairing and windscreen, just at the top corner. I found a jardine slip on slightly used for about $150, it's polished aluminum.

The thing is the bike was rebuilt from a wreck, so I would have to let the buyer know it has been down two or three times, most all the damage was repaired and it drives straight.

I'm really torn on selling it, not because i'm in love with the bike, but because it's my only motorized transportation. I would be taking the city bus and bicycling for a few months at least if i sell it.
