Corbin seat arrived

Well I got my corbin seat today and what a disaster it was at first... None of the mounting brackets matched up with my RR... I called them and they really didnt believe me.. I ended up having to take pics and email Corbin the pics for them to even think about taking it back... And they said they mold them from the bike.. Bullsh!!... The mounting holes weren't even level.. and about 1/4inch off... The rear seat had no chance of fitting.. Why would u mold a rear seat of a 600RR, when my bike is a 1000RR.. No refunds they said.. Have to send back and wait 4 weeks while they check the fit themselves.. Not very impressed with Corbin..

Sorry for the probs. Not the first time that I've heard this about Corbin.

Cancel and go with Sargent.

Re: Corbin seat arrived

Sargent is already on the way..... seat looked nice though... u could just tell whoever handmade the seat must have been smoking some good stuff.. It was the right seat but just mounting brackets where off 1/4 -1/2inch and uneven... Poor craftsmen ship.. I've have seen alot better corbin seats.. My biggest prob was trying to convince them to believe me and pay for the postage back.. U would think they would atleast stand behind there stuff better... And 4 weeks to get it fixed.. Thats how long it took to get it.. You would think I would be a priority since they did fu!! it up..

Re: Corbin seat arrived

In 1983, Corbin sent me a seat that was supposed to fit my new VF750F. It fit just about the same as your description. I video taped it and had to send the tape to convince them.

Nothing's changed in 24 years it seems.

Re: Corbin seat arrived

I have a Corbin on my 954. Got it used of ebay for less than a 100 bucks. I like it more than stock. Nice wide, flat seat; and keeps me off the tank a bit more. I do agree with the mounting locations. Mine are not totally lined up....about an 1/8 to 1/4 off......I'm just glad I didn't pay full price!!

Re: Corbin seat arrived

That is the typical Corbin experience. If you really want a Corbin, there is only one way to get it with not much fitting issues; in person. They don't get paid until you leave. Another option is having the dealer order it for you. It is a lot easier to get your money back from the dealer, but check the return policy.

If you want a custom seat, go with a Sargent.

Re: Corbin seat arrived

So, I suppose this is a less than optimum time to sell my Corbin seat?
My only issue with it has been that the stiffer seat makes it harder to get those damn bolts in! I really loved the seat on my Hawk. It came off with a turn of the key and a push of a small lever. Why can't they do that again!

And why put the fuses under a seat that's such a pain to remove? Putting them in the rear compartment would have been pretty easy I would think. I love Honda's but sometimes you gotta wonder . . .

Re: Corbin seat arrived

I ordered and am waiting on a sargent for my 954(2-3 weeks)., I have read more good things about the sargent than the corbin. I only ride on the street and anytime I ride for over an hour my rear dose not feel to good with the stock seat, hopefully this will help.

Re: Corbin seat arrived

another -1 for Corbin huh? second one this week that I've heard of, Luckily I live near Corbin, and if I were to ever to buy a seat, I can drive up to pick it up and install it on the spot, that way there will be no BS.
