954.... As comfortable as the 1000RR

Not for the track but for the road, normal day to day riding to and from work...... i have read a few posts that the 954 is a very unforgiving bike and not comfortable at all ??? I thought they were the nicest blades to own if you wanted to ride ''normal'' ? Am i just getting confused or is the newer 04 1000RR the more practical day to day bike ?

Re: 954.... As comfortable as the 1000RR

Well I have an 02 954 and a 07 1000RR... My 954 is setup for track and my 1000RR is my daily rider.. BUT i must say that my 954 is probally the most comfortable sportbike i have owned.. The 04 or 05 1000RR feel very heavy, the 06 & 07 1000RR are lighter and have a shorter wheelbase which make them feel alot differant than the 04 0r 05 1000RR as far a rideability goes.. If the choice is between an 954 vs 04 or 05 1000RR for comfort and practical ride ability I would suggest the 954.. Just my Cant really go wrong on any Honda...

Re: 954.... As comfortable as the 1000RR

As stated above the 954 is probably one of the most comfortable liter bikes you will find.

Look, lean, believe!!

Re: 954.... As comfortable as the 1000RR

I put the Corbin seats on my 954 and now actually enjoy getting outta Sydney for the whole weekend! It transformed the bike, both in comfort and ride-ability. best $800AUD I've ever spent. The different posture seems to have increased my 'flickability' heaps, I am pushed a little back, due to angle of the seat which has changed the centre of gravity. The front seat also has a broader cross section and it allows a surer grip, the feedback and non slip when wearing leather pants is awesome. I have worked as a salesman in a Trumpy/Beemer shop and ridden heaps of bikes (I like to say that BMW takes the F.U. out of FUN ) and the 954 is the best bike I have ever ridden! I've only done level 1 of the California Superbike School at The Creek but shheeeeee-IT! She moves....am grinning like a madman as I write this...ahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!

I ridden both the 04 and 06 1000rr. I agree 100% that the 954 is more comfortable than the 1000rr.

Re: 954.... As comfortable as the 1000RR

I own a the 2000 929 and the 2003 954 (Yeah the 1st of both blades, LoL). And compared to that ummm Slozuki GSXR 1000. Hands down my 929 and my 954 are far more comfortable bikes. Granted they are older than the new bikes. but they have their advantages, and can still hang with the bigger boys....=-)

Re: 954.... As comfortable as the 1000RR

Maybe I should consider a good used 954 vs. a 1000RR.

I was just hoping for a brand spanking new liter bike. I hear the ZX10R is pretty comfy as far as modern sportbikes are concerned. Problem there is it's a Kawasaki

Or maybe i should buy a pick up truck as the main transportation and then a 1KRR for fun.

Re: 954.... As comfortable as the 1000RR

If you want a very comfortable sportbike either get a VFR or a CBR900RR .. old school. My 900RR is like a big cushy bike. Fast too. Not as fast as a modern literbike, but we ride on the street right?

Re: 954.... As comfortable as the 1000RR

Thanks for all that, i am going to see a blue and black one on sunday, it's a mint example with only 3,500 miles and FSH. I think this model will suit what is required of it.

Re: 954.... As comfortable as the 1000RR

There was a beautiful blue ZX10 at the strip when I was there, the faring stays are made out of plastic. They were broken and the whole front was about to fall off. Apparently the owner had 12 o'clocked it a couple of times. If my Honda's a couple of tenths slower in the 1/4 that's ok with me. As far as comfort goes I'm happy with the 929. I have a bad back and have been able to ride 6 hours in a day in relative comfort. I'm sure this would improve if I rode long distance more.

Re: 954.... As comfortable as the 1000RR

As everyone has already said, the 954 is more comfy. I rode from the Uk to the Italian alps on mine and back again. After owning a VFR I was worried the 954 would be really uncomfortable on long trips, but it just wasn't the case. Lovely bike.
