Re: Mothballing my 954

Yep... today I decided to mothball my 954. Transferred its plates to the FJR (which was running on temps until today), and cancelled its insurance. Sometime this week I'll put it on the back of a truck and take it to a friend's shop for proper storage probably until... March? A little bummed out about it because now I won't be able to ride it whenever

What drove you beside impending winter weather?

Just spending all your time on the Yammy?

D) All of the above and then some*

*then some: needed plates on the FJR, pronto (temps expired yesterday). New ones from the DMV were gonna be around ~$400. I know that with the cooler weather, I'd be spending even more time on the FJR; as is I only put about 1000 miles on it in the last 1.5 months, most of which was going to and from the Gap

Yeah, you know, lots of rain and such.

OT in my own thread, but... I did a TB sync and installed a PCIIIusb on the FJR, making it (gasp&#33 even smoother than it was before. Besides being able to keep up with 750s, R1s, 636s, etc this weekend, it was funny to think that I was doing it with nearly twice the range, and two saddlebags, one of which had a bunch of tools in it.

Wassamatta wit a lil rain?

Yeah there's a guy in my hometown with an FJR and he says it's the best bike in the world While I'm sure it's a killer bike...I'd still go with the GoldWing

Nothing, really, but it does make keeping textbooks and electronics dry a real risk. With $XXX in books, and $XXXX in gizmos with/on me on a given commute ride, it just doesn't make sense to try to make it on the 954 when the FJR is better suited for it

The only reason I don't say that the FJR is the 'best [overall] bike in the world' is because I haven't ridden them all Really, it's great at everything.

The GoldWing... is too far removed from the 954 for me to have even considered it. The _next_ logical step might be one, but that won't be for quiiite some time, if ever

...and I had just put on a new 520 set and fresh Avons
