Please help my Blade does 190 standing still

Hi

I hope someone can help me, I have recently bought a 98 Blade which was built by Somerset Superbikes for trackdays. It is road legal with full s/h all the MOTs etc which is why I would like the speedo to work.

It was not funtioning at all, so out came the trusty Haynes manual and I proceeded to follow the tests. All the tests were passed with the correct readings everywhere so I put the clocks back in place to see that the needle now sits at the 190 mark and even madder it actually works now but the needle rotates anticlockwise from 190. I have not disconnected and of the screw connections, only the push connectors which will only reconnect one way.

I a word I am baffled?? Any advice would be massively appreciated.

regards Martin

hmm well, im not sure about the wiring on the speedo but it kinda sounds like there might be a couple wires switched. if there are 2 hot wires to it then try switching them. if not im not sure, someone else on here will most likely know the answer to your problem but thats my guess.

Thanks for the reply, I dont think the wires are switched though as before I messed with it it was sitting at 0mph, but did not move at all.

Dont really fancy the dash upgrade as the bike is mainly for a track
