head removal.......

in a previous post yesterday i had a loud clunking in my motor soundin like marbles. 954 broke at track.

well after checkin the cct, i noticed that three of my cylinders are workin properly and one is not, i have fuel and fire to all cylinders but the one to the farthest right isnt heating up. i will have to check the compression

but i know the motors jumped timing. so thats why i think it might have bent a valve in that ylinder thats not heating up. can you remove the head with the motor on the bike or do you need to drop the motor to pull the head...? thanks

Re: head removal.......

You can confirm a bent valve without removing the head.
Measure your valve clearances and do a wet and dry compression test.

Re: head removal.......

Check compression first, then put a few cc's of oil in the cylinder and check it again. No difference means a valve is leaking (too big a gap for the oil to seal). If it increases it means a ring is bad (small gap sealed as oil bypasses it).

Re: head removal.......

If rings and valves are both good there should be very little difference between wet and dry readings.
