Re: Can't believe the riding season is over....

I don't put my bike away all winter long. Here in the Midwest, we are occasionally blessed with melted (dry) streets and a few unseasonably warm days each winter. Hell, I rode my new 954 home this past Jan. 2nd in 50 degree weather.

Salt? Sure. So wash the darned motorcycle. The Brits ride their bikes year round and are constantly battling corroded hardware and fasteners. A few odd days of riding in the winter here won't kill you or the bike either.

Don't get me wrong, Nebraska winters are cold, long and typically snowy, but if you invest in some good boots, textile pants, an insulated jacket, some good cold weather riding gloves and a Balaclava, you can stretch your riding season out longer than you'd think.

Chain's Balaclava

Keep your chin up, layer, and keep riding!

Re: Can't believe the riding season is over....

Yeah, the end of summer does suck. Each fall I winterize and store the bike and boat for the winter...kinda sucks but at least I get to look forward to snowmobiling and snowboarding!

Re: Can't believe the riding season is over....

i live in S.C aand there is no riding season for me. We do get very low temps from time to time like in the single digits, but as long as the temp is in the mid 30's I can stay warm.

Re: Can't believe the riding season is over....

Winter can be a pain but that is a few months off here in Oklahoma. *I am looking forward to a nice cool in the morning and warm in the afternoon track day this coming Sunday at Hallett Motor Racing Circuit

Sometimes the winter season is a great time to do all the needed up grades for the next year a hard riding.

OVER? Hmmmmm, doing a trackday on Sunday, supposed to be about 100 degrees, abnormally hot for this time of year. In fact, it should be about 85.

Re: Can't believe the riding season is over....

Man, I live a hour west of Chicago. As long as the salt stays off the roads, I ride. When the salt goes on the roads, I stay off them with my bike until the first rain in the spring.

I live in Massachusetts, and I don't put the bike away all year long. As long as the streets are dry I'm out there!
