Clicking noise when start moving.

i have this noise when i release the clutch , like 2 clicks/knocks from the front.
i was sure at start it's the chain , so i adjusted it twice but this noise is still there.
it did seems like it's less or goes away for few days when i'm adjusting the chain.
the rear spokes looks good. could it be the front one ?

i just hear the knocks at start like one or two and that is it. nothing after.

any ideas ?

Re: Clicking noise when start moving.

I used to have that problem on my Honda Hornet and tried all you said with the chain. It turned out to be a worn front sprocket. After I changed the chain and sprockets the problem was gone!! The sprocket had been worn and the chain was slipping on the worn teeth. Make sure to replace the chain AND sprockets though if you decide to go down that route...

Re: Clicking noise when start moving.

yes you may be right , i thought about that option.
but could it be that the chain and the rear sprocket are in good shape
and the front got worn out faster ?

OR maybe the pre owner replaced only what is visible "for the sale"...

Re: Clicking noise when start moving.

Well when I buy a new bike (new to me!!) there's a few things I like to replace ASAP like the chain & sprockets and tyres, etc. I just bought a CBR 600F4i and replaced the tyres the day after I got it. The chain & sprockets are fine so will leave them. The other issue may be that the previous owner may have as you said changed only what can be seen ie. only the chain and rear sprocket. So the front sprocket may be worn. Worth a quick look without much hassle by taking off the cover and just looking at it.
Other prob may be the clutch but I'm not quite sure how to tell so can't advise on what to look for!!

Re: Clicking noise when start moving.

Oh and by the way NEVER replace just the chain or just the sprocket as doing so will result in a brand new chain stetching to suit the worn teeth of the sprockets. So if you find out that the front sprocket is worn just replace the lot!
