Re: Palm OS & PC3

Just an FYI for anyone considering using a Palm OS device to remap a PC3.

My old M100 Palm Pilot is on it's last leg. After checking out all the latest models, found they all use USB connections. Emailed Dynojet and found out they are not compatible with a PC3 (even the USB version of the PC3). According to Paul at Dynojet they don't currently have any support for USB connections to a Palm device. They are having trouble with another company claiming to have a patent on this type of technology.

Bummer...

Re: Palm OS & PC3

I have a USB <-> Serial adapter that I used on my notebook to connect to the PC3. Wonder if something like that would work on PalmOS...

Re: Palm OS & PC3

I have one of those USB to serial adapters also. I think it might work if you had the right connector (gender bender for the USB cable; if they make them).

Re: Palm OS & PC3

Thought I'd bring this thread back up.

Palm has an older model onsale on their website. *It is the M105. *It has a serial connection and will work with a PC3. *It is the same as the M100 I have except it has 8 meg of memory instead of 2 meg.

The one onsale is an open box, so no software is included, but you can download it.

I bought one.

Zeeman. I know for sure the M100/105 have a serial connection (ie non-usb) and I think they had some models after that which were also serial but I don't recall what they were.

Re: Palm OS & PC3

I have recently bought a palm Vx to load maps into my PC3R but have not had much luck with it. I cant get it to HOTSYNC Via cradle with serial connection, serial connection with usb adapter or via IR, although I managed to send the "Maplist" software via IR to the palm successfully but when I tried to send maps the palm recieves them but says they are in unrecognised format and wont save them? I have read on a few forums that there is a known problem with Hotsyncing on some palms (Vx) it has the latest Palm OS
Guess Ill just have to wait till I fix my PC as in needs a new MB.
( Im using the internet cafe up the street at the moment )
