Is there a rev limiter for 1993 900rr?

Hi everyone and this is my first post here since I bought a 1993 900rr with around 21,000 miles.

I am wondering if my bike comes stock with a rev limiter:

Here's the sad story--

I was riding my '93 Honda cbr 900rr down the street at around 30 mph when I see this lady trying to jaywalk (not in a crosswalk and very dangerous) right in front of me.

She was willing for me to actually crash into her, so to try and warn her not to cross in front of me, I revved my engine.

She still kept walking and so I revved again to what's SOUNDED like the bike's Maximum, 11,000 rpm.

I don't know if I over-revved past that point and into the redzone on my tachometer...but after I did this I smelled a strange odor coming from the bike.

Not exactly sulfur, but a mixed, unpleasant, burnt odor.

Did I fry something or is it just coincidence?

Is there a way for my 900rr to shut off the spark to my cylinders when the bike is revved past redline?

It does have a limiter although I don't know where it's set on the early bikes.
The limiter _only_ cuts the spark. It's not a brake for the crank.
If you rev the engine from idle in neutral the spark will cut out but the crank will keep accelerating until engine compression can overcome it's inertia and slow it down.
Also, if you are at redline in a gear and change down one or more gears the engine will also be pulled up past the limiter.
I can't help you with the smell but if it's not exhibiting any other problems I wouldn't be too concerned.

Thank you Blade.

The bike felt fine and rode the same after the rev, it just had that strange smell.

After the ride, I turned the bike off and sniffed the exhaust and the smell didn't seem to be coming from the exhaust...but somewhere from the rear of the bike-- maybe the rear brake area? Dunno....

I haven't had a sense of smell since an operation when I was seven so "smelly" problems are not something I can help with :-)

Gotcha. Hopefully the bike is fine.

I am not even sure I over-revved the bike. But it was the highest I'd ever revved it since I have owned it.
