UK spec which oil

Uk owners what oil did your dealer tell you to use, castrol power 1 racing (fully synth 10/30) or castrol power 1 (semi synth 10/40) the Honda uk sticker on my bike says use power 1 racing but there does seem to be a question mark over the correct oil (re MCN this week).

Re: UK spec which oil

I'm miffed too as my delaer told me that they definitely only ever put semi synthetic oil in bikes they service.

I wonder if they put 10/30W on the service invoice but put different oil in to keep Honda warrany happy ?

I'll ask them, but I assumed mine wasn't burning oil since she is using semi.

My bike has done approx 1200 miles, 600 miles since the first service oil change. Some guys have experienced using over half a litre of top up in 600 miles, I haven't though.

Well I've done 2600 miles including 1 track day and used about half a litre top up which is fine compared to my previous bikes so i reckon the honda fully synth is the way to go but who really knows mate

Splatty - that doesn't necessarily mean they've used fully synth. Castrol Power 1 GPS (semi-synth) comes in 10W30 and 10W40. Only the Power 1 Racing is fully synth.

Manual says 10/30 or 10/40 depending on climate temp but not whether semi or not

Re: UK spec which oil

Mine has Silkolene 10w30 fully synth in as per the instruction from the mechy at my dealer and the service manager, I am going to change over to Castrol Power 1 Racing next time they empty it (when they measure for usage at 2000 miles).

I always used castrol and I asked them at the 600 mile to use it but they didnt and put their own **** in there.

Re: UK spec which oil

Just checked with the service department at my dealer. They use Castrol GPS Power 1 (that's the semi-synth) 10w40.

I asked if they were absolutely sure because I needed to top up and they said it wouldn't matter really if I topped up with the same oil but 10w30. What's your take on this?

Not neccessarily. Castrol Power 1 GPS is available as 10w30 and 10w40 and both are semi-synth.
