what can i expect from this bike?
and by the way it does really get hot in traffic....i thought i will fry my balls in traffic when i picked it up.....

Re: newbie on 954 rr

Can you clarify what you mean by "expect from"?
I would expect you'll have a lot of fun with it :-)

Re: newbie on 954 rr

Well over here in the UK we had the problems of the bottom of the forks corroding and even cracking - but that was recalled.

Next is the thin engine cases that some people complain of making too much noise, and some people even have their engine blocks cracking...

Finally, people have suffered problems with their gearboxes being worn and having a "neutral" between gears other than first and second.

Apart from that, they are great bikes , have about 135BHP and will pull all the way to 170MPH.

- I've never had a problem with mine, don't think I ever will tbh - They were the best Fireblade ever produced IMO.

Re: newbie on 954 rr

Also, what temperature does your Blade go up to when cruising, when in traffic e.g. stationary + moving and what temp does the fan kick in?

General riding mine will hit 80ish degrees, in traffic it will go up and up and up to about 90-100 and the fan kicks in at 102 degrees C.

Re: newbie on 954 rr

All the Honda's I've ridden have a longer throw on the shift lever than I'm used to from Suzuki and Kawasaki.
I still get a missed shift or two every race day but shortening the lever throw made it _much_ better.

Re: newbie on 954 rr

All the Honda's I have owned run a little hot. I had an 02 1100xx before the 954 and it would keep my legs really hot in the summer. The 954 is the same. No other problems with the 954 so far. It had 6,200 miles when I bought it and now 7,000. Great little bike I love the light weight compared to the 1100xx.

Re: newbie on 954 rr

I live in a fairly hot part of Australia and even though the gauge always shows the temp under control (mid to low 80's when cruising and under 100 in traffic) I have found my 954 the hottest bike I've ever riding, I think it must be just the way the heat rises through the fairings.
And I have experienced the odd miss gear between 3rd & 4th and always thought it was something I was doing, seeing Twincam mention it makes me feel a little bit better about it, cheers.
The best thing about 954's (speaking from my part of the world) is I hardly ever see another one out there and having something rare is cool. Everyone wants to check it out.

I was young and stupid then. I'm old and stupid now.

Re: newbie on 954 rr

@brisvegas.....even the frame gets really hot during traffic....nice to know that im not the only one experiencing this....

i think im the only one in my place that has a 954.....cbr 1000 rr are fairly common, r1's, gixxer, super 4's but ive only seen one 954 and it was several hundred miles away from my town....
