Re: Binned it at track day need parts?

I would pass your list of parts to your local Honda dealer, and ask for a price for each part. I just bought an Alternator case for £83.45 + VAT, Bar end weight £10.03 + VAT, Bar end screw £1.44 + VAT. I would also watch Ebay, I rebuit a Kawasaki from Ebay and got some really good bargains. Unfortunately the 08 Fireblade is a bit new for Ebay, so if any parts come up on Ebay expect them to be expensive and hard to come by. I also slightly scratched my left hand (near side) side panel, I think they said it was about £150 or was it £115 sorry cannot remember, the scratch on mine is very minor so it can wait.

no help on finding those parts, but you might want to add some frame sliders to that parts list

Re: Binned it at track day need parts?

Would the frame sliders have saved it, or would it have wrecked the frame?

I know its a different bike but it saved mine when I crashed at the track in June. the slider and non folding peg saved a lot of damage. some minor scrapes on stuff and a small hole worn into the bodywork (track fiberglass). I don't think the slider did much on my crash a week ago at the track except pick up more dirt.

after you get a new clutch cover these protectors would be a good idea. Woodcraft-CFM :: Honda CBR1000RR 08 Right Engine Cover (60-0339RB)

if you can't convince them, confuse them.

Re: Binned it at track day need parts?

the damage seems consistent to my low speed lockup. Frame sliders are pretty good at protecting your bike in low side spills and as long as you get some that are bolt through...not no-cut you shouldn't have any damage caused by the slider. The bolts that mount the engine create one of the strongest, lowest flex points in the frame.

As for prices for parts I would suggest looking aroubd online at some oem dealers. You can usually save a good amount of money that way. Sorry about the Yosh though, that by itself will probably cost more than your replacement plastic. Invest in a set of race plastics too so that you can just sand out scuffs and whatnot, instead of replacing the expensive stock plastic...also track plastic is usually easier to get off the bike for maintenance reasons, dunno how easy, but anything would be easier than the origami jigsaw puzzle they got going on, on the 08 blade.

Or you can go with the same as mine. I saw them in action on some guy bike. They are really good.

Bad luck Rich, clearways is highside city and very nearly did the same a few years ago on my old '98 R1 but got away with just very bruised undertackle.

Still brings tears to my eyes.

Firstly Rich, you seem in good spirits considering - so I'm hoping you, yourself didn't suffer any damage!

Does your insurance not cover the damage?

Not many insurances cover track riding.

Just a graze on arm for me thanks, insurance doesn't cover it but its not to bad total around £1200 that's just the risk you take on the track. Its just a shame as it was such a great day up to that point
