Almost saved it

Well fellas i put my 954 down... heres how it happend
I was on campus doing hw untill about 9:40 pm and was leaving the parking lot. It was about 40degrees F out. First cold week of the year.

I was turning onto another street and as i started to accelerate the rear end broke loose on the cross walk and started to slide, well i managed to slide the bike 180 degrees and actually ride it backwards for about 10 feet.

I tried to put my foot down right as i was about stop and and at that moment somehow my bars got jerked to the right and the bike fell onto its left side and threw me off.

Damage

cracked stator cover, broke mirro, bent rear set, and scratched the rear cowl, and broke the spool mount off the rear

so i need a new stator cover and stock mirror. Im going to fiberglass my rear and rebuild it. I might be able to straighten my rear set.. well see.

Lucky my frame slider took most of the damage and the front fairing and upper never got touched...

Lucky i guess.

Re: Almost saved it

ya, but so much torque down low, just lets the tire eat threw that tire... i have a pilot race on the rear, but it didnt stand a chance with only 50ft of warm up...

deff need to be more care full

ya im going to redo my tail section, i had a silver number plate that matched the bike instead of the stock white one...(absolutely love the look of it) but it was on top of the clear coat.

and on hot days with my helmet on the hook it would smudge the sticker a bit.... so this time im going to do it right and clear over the decal.

Re: Almost saved it

one thing i like about living at 7200 feet above sea-level... not enough torque to spin the wheel unless i dump the clutch while going over the crosswalk

Re: Almost saved it

4500 ft above sea level, so also low torque, but I absolutely hate the paint and sealant on the roads... slick as all hell, especially when wet.

Re: Almost saved it

i rode an 05 1000 the other day and it is no where near as wheelie happy as the 954, the owner on the 1000 used to have a 929 and when he rode myne that was his exact quote, "i forgot how much grunt they have down low".

Re: Almost saved it

Yea, the 929 and 954 were definitely bikes of the people for street riding. Great power everywhere instead of crap down low and stratospheric in the top end like gsxrs.

They were the last real Fireblades designed by the man himself, Tadao Baba.

Some say the history of the Fireblade ended there.

Get some pictures of the damage please
