To park it or sell it?

Long story short, I am losing my driving privileges for a year, and will be on hardship for another 4 after that.... (I been a bad, dumb boy) I have already decided to more or less scrap my Joe Dirt camero. (running on half the cylinders anyway, and no desire to fix it. Way to hideous to toss money at) But I am confused as to what to do with my pride and joy. I have just under 10k miles on the odo, and a few minor plastic ouchies from my short legs not getting planted well enough. Thankfully I own the bike fully, and am not maken payments. And I REALLY REALLY want to have this bikes babies I love it so much.

What would you do? Money is always an issue, but this bike is like the meaning of life for me. I know I want to keep it, but my selfishness clouds my judgment. If I do sell it, I don't know when I will ever have the money to fully buy another that will come close to being what this 06 is.

This I do not know. And have wondered about. But reality is a pain in that then I gotta get someone to trailer me and the beast to a track.... But I have considered this as to help my need for speed. But thats the NEXT topic!

Re: To park it or sell it?

Sell it quick, the temptation to ride it will be too much. I imagine if you get caught again something really bad is going to happen and you might wind up with a new boyfriend in your new cramped quarters.

Honestly it will only be minor to get caught on a suspended. And I will have time to mod it. The state of Florida only wants money. They are already asking for 30 days in. I would do 60 to 90 to get out of certain things. I will survive. But my baby.... I worry for IT more than myself!

I will take care of it for you until you get your full license back...it will be tough, but I'm personally willing to make the sacrifice.

On a serious note (but yes, I would take care of it ) sucks about what is goin on and I hope you get your legal crap figured out and you don't get railed by the gov't any more than usual

If you don't owe anything on it....

Keep It* .... spend the time stripping and cleaning

*It wont eat or drink anything so you'll loose nothing

Re: To park it or sell it?

Personally I am leaning to keeping her. Paid for so as long as I can get someone to warm her up once a week, and watch the tire pressure, she will maintain her golden nature. Those 3am interstate burns WILL tempt me....

And the states gonna rail me. That is how Florida rolls. Unlike that AT FAULT trucker in Indiana who ran over and killed that young biker (Loopy posted that news) ... I am only guilty of poor judgment. (nature of alcohol) Yet I am going to have my ass handed to me on a platter full of bills, jail time, and quality of life problems for half a decade....I bet that trucker only loses his CDL....

Re: To park it or sell it?

Why not... store it as if it's gunna be laid up for winter, drain fluids.. etc (see https://www.fireblades.org/forums/how...r-storage.html) then you wont be able to take it for a blat.... even if the beer tells you it's a good idea

Re: To park it or sell it?

What is this "winter" you speak of? Us tropical folk have never heard of such insanity!

And beer never tells me it is a good idea. Blats are purpose built for blatting. If you will.

But to be semi serious. I worry about the fuel pump. I have heard the lack of fuel, or stagnate fuel can be hurtful to the pumps in these bikes. It will be easier to keep her working.

Re: To park it or sell it?

It is a give and take world. Summer is hard to ride in here cuz it is HOT as hell with 99.9% humidity. (NVM all black bike and black jacket) And the rain comes with no warning. I have been caught in a down pour, as the sun shines on me. A year round ridding seaon means half the year you stink like hell, and the other is you are bundled up enough to be uncomfrotable.

MY need to ride aside, I don't want to go the winterized route for the bikes sake. It is no track bike, and has been my daily driver for the last few months. I want her legs to be nimble as the they are. (still well beyond my skill)

I am basically at the 10k miles mark, and she will be parked since no one I know I would EVER trust to ride her.... (even previous owner/s) as he was spot on not to let me test ride it for fear of ITS life! I totally understand where he was coming from, and he has told me he misses it. I dun wanna miss it! I would rather look forward to it all over again! (what did I say about being selfish?)

Re: To park it or sell it?

O.Kaaayy..... Stick her on stands.. take wheels off!

you can still sit on, start her and make brooooooooom brrroooom noises ....

.... but with them little wheels on the bottom of the stand.. you'll have problems blasting up and down the road

Re: To park it or sell it?

Personally I WOULD find someone with a trailer and get me to the track !!!! Then you may actually realise the full potential of your bike and yourself and way way more fun and pleasure out of your bike for something it was born to do ! All the best sorting out your problems

Do, or do not, there is no try !
The mind is a funny thing
