Please help! need exhaust experts! ^^

i know i'm being real stupid to ask this type of question here, but i'm noob and need help; and thank you all in advance.

i have 2002 Honda CBR954RR,

and i saw this exhaust on sale but i have no idea if this will fit.

all i know is: this is a "Scorpion titanium slip-on" & has 2in id inlet and 20in mounting clips.

i was somewhat sure this will fit (it's just a slip-on after all... isn't it?? )

but i just had to be sure before i make that purchase hehe...

please help! Thank you!!!

Re: Please help! need exhaust experts! ^^

If it's a slip-on then it probably isn't going to fit if you have a stock midpipe unless you make up a slip-on flange to sut.

It also looks like some original packing you have with it. Any part number on the package you can cross over?

Re: Please help! need exhaust experts! ^^

You would have to modify the exhaust as there is a huge cone that fits into the OEM can.

The 954RRs have three bolts that mount the exhaust can onto the mid pipes, then there is the exhaust hanger attached by one female allen key bolt.

Also, I believe the 929 and the 954 end cans are interchangable therefore meaning a slip on from a 929 should fit (please correct if wrong) but doubt a full system would.

Re: Please help! need exhaust experts! ^^

929/954 takes a bolt on not a slip on. it won't work unless you change the midpipe.

a 954 can will work on a 929 midpipe if you cut the cone off but you have to cut it all the way down at the bottom. don't know about a 929 can on a 954 a I haven't tried it. full systems are interchangeable. Sato lists my system only for a 954 but it fits my 929 without any issue.

if you can't convince them, confuse them.

Re: Please help! need exhaust experts! ^^

I thought both the 929 and 954 have the cone?
The cali pipe is different though - I know it has the O2 sensor in it.
Full systems are interchangable except that the muffler hangers are usually different.

yeah I assume they both do. I just know my stock system when I bought it already had a 2Bros can on it. I sold that and bought a stock 954 can just in case I needed to quite the bike down at the track. When test fitting the 954 can I had to cut the part that I assume was the cone even further down than it was already cut just to get the bolts through the flange.

and the muffler hanger on a full system would be the same wouldn't it? if its an aftermarket hanger then it just replaces the passenger peg, that's the same on both bikes. I have a Sato hanger and the package said 954 and ZX6R.

Re: Please help! need exhaust experts! ^^

it wont fit if you have stock pipes you need to change the mid pipe you need to be looking for a pipe that says 'bolt-on' not 'slip-on' their is a very big difference in between the two

The passenger pegs are different on the 929 and 954.
I have been told both will fit both subframes but they'll sit at different angles. Unlikely to matter with an adjustable hanger but a muffler with a fixed support point probably won't line up with the hanger.

Re: Please help! need exhaust experts! ^^

Check my gallery for a side view of my can, and you can see two of the three bolts that hold the can to the exhaust.

Look for an end can that is meant for a 954/929, would be much easier than having to modify your midpipes...

Re: Please help! need exhaust experts! ^^

You won't find a slip-on to fit a 929/954 as they are a bolt-on muffler.
If you want a slip-on you either need a half-system to the HTEV or a full system or make up a slip-on flange that bolts onto the pipe first.

ahh by full system I assumed you meant aftermarket not stock. most aftermarkets just use band clamps so the hanger isn't a big deal.
