2nd gear pop-out.

Have an 06 1k. 2nd gear likes to pop out on occation. When it does, I almost know in advance because it feels as if it didnt quite engage all the way, not a smooth shift. has anybody here had this issue? I talked to my local dealers tech. and he said he has seen some shift forks bent. he said that it was not that bad of a job to check or fix if this is the problem.

Re: 2nd gear pop-out.

It's either the shift fork or worn dogs.
Either will result in the other if left long enough.
If you find you're able to avoid it with careful shifting it's probably the shift fork.

Re: 2nd gear pop-out.

This is a problem if you've come to Honda from one of the other Jap manufacturers as Honda have a longer shift throw than you'd be used to.

Re: 2nd gear pop-out.

The good news is you can do all the repairs without splitting cases on the 1K which will save you a ton on labor $

Re: 2nd gear pop-out.

Where do you get this kit, and how much? Is it OEM or aftermarket?

Re: 2nd gear pop-out.

After market - Factory Pro Shift Kit. Don't know if they have '08 stuff - you'd have to email or call..
