Does anyone know how many of these Honda are actually making, as they are very hard to get hold of here in the UK???

Re: Repsol 2009

To the OP, ask Honda. Since they haven't said, it will be as many as they can sell.

Re: Repsol 2009

The black '08 Honda said less than 500 on the site. Honda has never given production information about the Repsol. They usualy sold 1,500 to 2,500 of them though.

Re: Repsol 2009

The Repsol is hardly "rare" here in the states. The best bet I can give you is go to a dealer, preferably one thats reputable, and sit down and tell them that the only way you'll buy a new bike through them is if they have the Repsol. They should then get in touch with their region rep from Honda and see what the availability is like. Honda is a business and if they can make a sure buck they will make it possible for you to give them that buck.

The key is not to be in a rush, if you can put money down on it...not like 100 bucks but more like 10% down if you can, this shows real commitment to the sale, and the dealer is more likely to get things rolling when you hand them a wad of cash. Also if they can get the bike for you, immediately start negotiating a price and if you can get them to sign something to the effect of an agreed upon price. Dont let the dealer bullshit you with "unforseen fees", because no business worth a crap deals in magic numbers, everything that they would have to pay is known up front, dealers like to make a deal seem sweeter by making it seem like they are saving you money by reducing the "assembly fee or dock fee". All I can say is between the 5 dealers in San Diego that Ive been to, all those fees are different between each other...one place even tried to convince me that the assembly and dock fee was $3000 dollars, needless to say I make sure to not send people to them to purchase a bike.

The dealer I bought both my 08 Blade and recent 09 have charged only $650 for the assembly and dock fee which i feel is fair since its alot less than the other places.

I guess patience is what got me a good deal, that and paying for the bike in cold hard cash never hurts

You do know that Honda pays the dealer to assemble the bike, right? It is included in the price, then dealers come along and charge for it a second time.

Gidge

Was at my dealer at lunchtime today, Sutton Motorcycles in Tamworth.

They had an unsold Repsol sitting in the showroom.

Yeah i know, its just that in California, it doesnt matter if you are buying a car or a bike, they all charge a dock fee, even for domestics, the assembly charge , depending on the shop is usually "knocked off" to get you to feel like you get a sweet deal.

If it wouldnt be such a hassle i would buy my bike from Illinois or one of those other cold seasonal places that sell bikes for ALOT less than MSRp due to the lack of real demand. But since I live in San Diego, the land of perpetual riding season, I dont complain about paying a small premium.

Re: Repsol 2009

I've got an 07! They said they made 300 of them for the UK... However I think when I got mine, all 300 were at my local cafe!

we do not charge any setup fee's at any of our stores, and 6 of those stores are in cali. 99% of the dealers out here charge for setup even though honda pays the dealer for it then the dealer charges you for it again, this is what we like to call DOUBLE DIPPED. just another way they can get you for an extra couple hundred bucks
