954 intermittent rough/cut out? help please...

i was out on the bike today, and i was just sitting behind a car when my bike started to sort of 'choke' like it wasnt getting fuel or something? then it went away, then it came back, and now it just constantly gluggs and rides very jerky, and at one point it was on tick over and the clocks were just flashing on and off, and was riding it to where i am now and it was just cutting out, clocks, engine, the lot, and then just bursting back into life again?... ive checked all the usual stuff like connections etc... i have a race can on the bike and havent pc'd it... could that be the problem?... any help greatly appreciated.

Back on the road again!...

Might bethe voltage rectitier regulator some kind of a charging problem, I had a cbr1000f that the regulator rectifier went out and it did the same thing, Check the voltage when running, This is fuel injected right?

yeah its fuel injected, im not sure where the regulator rectifier is situated on my 954 but you reckon check the voltage whilst running? only problem is it tick over fine?... most of the time... if you ride it and let it jerk for a while, then pull over, it ticks over al shitty then....

Fuel injected is great but opens the door for a plethora of other potential causes, could be the computer, but would check the charging system first. Is the batery good? How many miles are on it? uasually the rectifier only lasts 50k miles or less. It is uasually under the rear tail somewhere near the battery. Just put a voltage meter on the battery when it is crapping out and it should be around 13 to 14 or so volts normally, when mine was crapping out it wend down to 10.5. When mine went out it had spells where it ran like crap then fine and then just went out, and you have to be careful you can ruin you stator running with a bad rectifier.

Sorted it!!! all it was was a loose connection on the negative to the battery, tightened it up with a phillips and and all back to normal! wouldnt have thunk it...
