Your accell will be a little quicker.....and you will lose a little top end. All n all it will be alittle more fun. Id look into a speedo heeler, your speedo is prob a little off.

Re: 02 CBR954 Sprocket Question

sorry, i only did cons, yes, you will accelerate faster and your overall gearing will be a little different.

if you showed 80 now you might be doing 75, but with the sprocket, it would be 80 and 70

Re: 02 CBR954 Sprocket Question

yes without the speedo healer the milage will stack up a little quicker. i believe the speedo healer is only around 110 bucks....this will correct everything for you.

You sold an RC51 to go to a liter?

Lowering the gearing allows you to reach higher revs at lower road speeds thus improving acceleration.
Your speedo and odo will read higher.
You will have a slight decrease in chain and sprocket life.
You will use more fuel.
Going to 520 with lightweight sprockets reduces driveline mass but any power gain would be hardly measureable. If you run a steel rear sprocket there's really no advantage swapping to 520.
The colour of the chain is irrelevant - you can get gold chains made of cheese if you wanted to - what matters is its tensile strength.

Re: 02 CBR954 Sprocket Question

Wow I'm pretty sure this is the oldest thread I've ever seen resurected BUT, I'm doin a 525 -1+2 alum vortex and I'm broke, will a chain 8800 lbs be adequate? Has pcusb, full tune,k&n, handle header/two bros can, pair delete, flapper mod, and is stretched 6-8 inches so this will be a 150 link chain(SUB ? Is 150 long enough)

I don't know if the extra length is likely to affect it but 8800lbs is fine.
8" is an extra 13 links so I would expect 26-28 links longer than stock should be long enough.
