900RR Tail Light Mod...

Not sure if anyone has done this or not, but I redid the integrated blinkers on my 99 900rr. Basically its just the socket out of a stockish turnsignal tie strapped on the frame of the taillight. The light goes through the end peices on the 98-99 light. Ya know, the place thats just sitting there begging to be turned into blinkers! It works good now since I have better bulbs and have moved them over just a hair. If anyone is interested in this let me know. Soon I will need another assembly and I am going to make the LED board for them to make them full LED light minus the clear lense... Heh...

Re: 900RR Tail Light Mod...

Ok, firstly, this will not work with any other light than the 98 - 99 taillight. I noticed you had 96 in your info, sooooooo... Basically whut you do is you take apart a stock turnsignal or aftermarket aslong as it was a hologen bulb, 1156 or something close. I used a 1003 bulb. Take the entire plastic assembly off of the turnsignal. Take the socket itself and plug it in to the harness, make sure it still works right. Take the tail section apart. Take the sides, and lock sections off so you can have all the room possible. Take some 6" - 10" zip ties and tie the socket with bulb to the taillight mounting bracket. Position the bulb inside the outer most part of the lense. Repeat this for the other side and then put your bike back together... Heres a video of it in action... YouTube - 1999 Honda CBR900RR Taillight Mod... I'll take some pics tomorrow, its getting dark here and I don't have light where my bike is... Sooooooo yea... Tomorrow I'll get some pics and show you exactly where to put the bulbs...

That looks really good in the video! I look forward to seeing those pics. If I go back to the stock taillight I'll definitely use this mod.

Re: 900RR Tail Light Mod...

Ok, cool. I will get the pics on tomorrow for yall... Hopefully if this is a big enough hit with people, I'm going to get another taillight and do an all LED version that'll cost a little less than the others that are out there...

Re: 900RR Tail Light Mod...

I know this thread is old but I did something similar with my F3 tail light. Looked stock and was free! I ended up putting an oval standard trailer LED brake light inside the housing to make it a LED for the brake light. It looked stock as well and much brighter too.

Would really like to see some pics, I happen to have a 99 Fireblade that I would love an LED assembly for to eliminate the ugly protruding blinkers. But I need it uk spec (amber turn) instead of us spec
