I put down my deposit today

on the new Blade. I had been meaning to do it for the last week or so but haven't had time, still unboxing chit. I've got the 1st one at this dealership in the spring, or if it's late the summer I think I made out good and this dealership also sells Yammerhaws so any deposits on 04's are probably on the all conquering R1. I was about to put down a deposit for one in TX but that is when my move came up.

I talked to them about price, and they don't charge over MSRP which is good. I asked about freight and setup and they said $798-898 for both of those charges, I laughed and said that was debateable. I need to get the invoice as soon as cyclecost gets it I won't mind paying MSRP but all be damned if I'm paying those freight and setup charges, they can hug a nut and I'll take my $ back

Re: I put down my deposit today

Booth, if they give you crap about freight and setup, just tell them you'll be glad to talk to the Honda rep about it.
The condensed version is this: Honda pays for that crap anyway, the dealer charging you for it is straight gravy.
I asked the local Honda rep about it a few years back when he was at my dealer, and he says it's a common complaint, but one that he couldn't control.
Anyway, my dealer doesn't add on any of that B.S. on any machine they sell.

Re: I put down my deposit today

Way cool. Let me know when it comes in and I'll fly to Seattle to give it a proper wringing.

Is a paradigm worth 20 cents?

Re: I put down my deposit today

TB Anytime man, just remember you break it, you replace it

BDA, I'm with you. I started to haggle/heckle about those charges, but I'd rather wait until I have the invoice printed off. They get reimbursed for setup and those freight charges are bullshit. I'll pay MSRP and TTL and nothing else. If they push that on me I'll get my deposit back and have one shipped from Lakehill lickety split

Re: I put down my deposit today

Well if you end up going with a dealer that requires you to ship it by some means, I can guarantee you that my guys won't charge MSRP on one.

Cool BDA, I might have to take them up on that depending on how all this pans out.

A honda isn't a honda to me unless it has some red in it + most people are going for the other 2 colors so it will make getting it easier if I have to go to another dealer in the US.
