954 STOCK pipe does not fit

i hav a cali bike...but i bought a exhaust set (headers, muffler...keeping the cali mid-pipe) off ebay ebay which i'm guessing is non-cali.

but the muffler mount hole does not line up with the passenger peg bracket.

should I...
A. get a non-cali midpipe and drill/weld an O2 port in it
or
B. get a cali muffler

Are you sure the muffler and passenger peg hangers are 954 items?
If either are 929 items I don't think the mount will line up.
I could probably tell from a photo.

Re: 954 STOCK pipe does not fit

Actually, I think the mufflers are the same so I can only guess the hangers are incorrect.
Never seen a Cali system so I don't know if they're the same length or not.

Re: 954 STOCK pipe does not fit

Well, i bought the whole system togheter...headers all the way back, but i didn't replace the mid-pipe because it didn't have an O2 port on it.

now i put the part number off the muffler into google, and only 1 result came up which looked like it was in german, but it had 954 in the sentence too.

p.s. while on the topic...what is the best pipe(not full system) for the 954? ...research shows jardin, but i can't find one on ebay or anywhere else.

Re: 954 STOCK pipe does not fit

I have a Jardine Rt-1 on my 929, which I prefer over my old Two brothers.

The California model has the same set-up as the rest, except the O2 sensor. Is it just the exhaust clamp/hangar that doesnt line up with the peg or does it not bolt up right? If its just the mount, just get one with a little more play.

Re: 954 STOCK pipe does not fit

I remember having fitting the remus pipe to my 954.
From memory, The bracket that came with the pipe was a different shape.
It ended up I had to rearrange the rubber mount and washers on the hanger, once I got it sorted it bolted right up.
I was told that this was the only difference between 929 & 954 end pipes.
But dont quote me on that because i have not looked to closely at the 929.

Re: 954 STOCK pipe does not fit

well the mount on a stock can is welded to the pipe...versus after market ones which slide up-n-down.

it's about 2-3 inches off....so something is definitely wrong.

Which is what would happen if you have 929 pillion pegs on the 954 subframe as they hang at different angles.

Re: 954 STOCK pipe does not fit

last question,

i'm about to buy a jardine pipe. but it's off a 929.

will a 929 pipe(slip-on) fit a 954? iow, are they interchangeable?

...and if so, will it make any sort of performance difference since it's designed for a 929?

Re: 954 STOCK pipe does not fit

it will fit. They have the same 3-bolt pattern at the base. The performance gains will be identical for the 954 as for 929.

Is it the RT-One?
