954 PC3 on a 929.

Long story cut short!
I bought a used PCIIIr thinking it was for the 929 but on arrival it is for a 954.
Connectors fit my 929 and it all seems to work when the ignition is switched on.
When I tried to load an "M104" map the software says "wrong unit".
I downloaded the 954 (M110) map for my setup and edited the figures in the fuel table to match the 929 map and loaded that onto the PC3. There were no changes in the ignition table in either map.
The bike started fine and seemed to run ok but I have not taken it on the road.
My question is;
Will this unit work properly or are there hidden settings in there that can cause damage/problems?

Re: 954 PC3 on a 929.

It will work. The secret is copy and paste! Get the correct map from dynojet for the 929, copy the fueling table and create your own map, then upload it.

Should work...I hope

Re: 954 PC3 on a 929.

I purchased a 954 PC3 as well... Just transfer the 929 map numbers onto the 954 map and you will be good.

I haven't played with my Power Commander program enough to setup a new map... I simply picked a map I knew I would never use, copied my 929 map and pasted on a 954 map.
