Tach stuck possible fix

My tach has been stuck on 4500 rpm ever since I changed out all of my led's. I took it all back apart and I found one little probe was broken off. The four probes are what powers and regulates voltage to the tach. Here are the pics.

The post are like this
TS+ TC-
TC+ TS- On mine the top TC- is broken

Re: Tach stuck possible fix

Do you need to rebuild the needle at TC-? Could try using a paper clip but maybe a little too thick?

Re: Tach stuck possible fix

That is a really, really good idea. I can desolder the post and remove it then try a piece of paper clip. I will let you know how it works out

Re: Tach stuck possible fix

Make sure you can solder the paper clip first...? I.e. try it first as some materials don't like to "stick".

Re: Tach stuck possible fix

I will. I am gonna try a paper clip first and then I am gonna try a piece of copper wire from a tv cable, since it is about the same diameter and it is very stiff

Re: Tach stuck possible fix

Definatly worth a try.

Has it left a hole where you can put a part of the paperclip into?

Re: Tach stuck possible fix

Yes after I desoldered the probe it left a small hole. The paper clip was just right for the hole but was too big for the hole on the needle motor. It fixed the stuck needle and removed the red error light. Here are the photos it was a really easy fix.

TV cable I used the copper in the middle perfect size length can be trimed( I left it long just until I finished soldering) and was stiff enough not to bend easily.
