Quick question on flushmount install...

I'm installing a set of flush mount signals on my 954. After I take the original stalks out there is like a reinforced plastic piece that the original stalks go through and then the nut goes on from the inside. My question is this: does this piece come out, or will I have to drill it to fit my flush mounts? They won't even come close to fitting with it in there, they're too long.

Another question: I've heard of people melting their flush mounts when using the running light feature. Is there some trick or should I just leave the running light wire un-attatched? Would it help if I got an LED bulb for them(no heat)?

Thanks in advance!

Re: Quick question on flushmount install...

Never mind, I went ahead and took the inner fairing out, as far as I can see it's once piece and will have to be drilled out.. Still don't know about the wiring and melting the lights though if anyone wants to chime in.
