What does it mean if there is oil in my airbox?

I removed my airbox to get to the valve cover the other day and discovered oil splattered in the airbox. What could cause something like this?

Don't panic...

It's fine honest, I found some in mine too not long ago and the other 'arf Sideshow Bob told me not to panic as well... Sometimes oil does find it's way up in there..

Perfectly normal.
The crankcase breathes into the airbox so some oil residue is normal.

from those pics it just looks like it hasn't been cleaned in awhile. if you find an actual puddle in there then you should worry.

if you can't convince them, confuse them.

I had the same kinda gunk in mine. I'm wondering if you do the pair valve conversion.... that would never happen again... Any opinions?

Nope.
The PAIR _sucks_ from the airbox on the right side.
The oil _blows_ in via the crankcase breather above the transmission.
