farting noise

hi all have'nt been on line for a while as **** thing called a computer packed up , anyhow recently while coasting down hills reaching roundabouts or lights the bike is making what i would call farting noises, first is this something i can fix or do i need a repair shop and the reason i ask is last time i booked my bike into the local honda dealership by the way it is in antibes france it took 3 months to get the appointment and the mechanic a term i will use loosely shook both wheels and told me it is not the wheel bearing.does anyone know of a good mechanic on the cote d'azur that speaks some english or perhaps i will have to improve my french. taking bike back to uk early next year should i wait till then, any help very much appreciated be lucky all of you

Re: farting noise

Being a little more specific on said "farting noises" would help. It sounds like you mean an exhaust gurgle when you roll out of the throttle approaching a turn or stop. Doesn't hurt the bike but you're prolly running a little rich and getting the bike tuned would help some.

Don't really know without more info then "my bike farts"

You need to be a lot more specific than this.
By coasting you mean in neutral?
Where does the noise come from?
How long does it last?
What causes it to stop?

Sounds like exhaust gurgle ... normal condition.

Re: farting noise

you running a race can, if so could be just a bit rich, but check there is not a small (and i mean small leak ) in exhaust system. Put rag and hand over end and listen for leak. If there is a small leak it could make a fart sound......

I'd agree. Check the exhaust system for air leaks.

Re: farting noise

My 954 started to "fart" during gear down after I peformed the "flapper mod"... I don't even pay attention to it as it doesn't cause any problems and it doesn't cause any loss of performance.

Wow, web-footed? Sister loving? I'll have you know that I don't even have a sister you wine swilling, bread crunching, cheese farting frog! (LOL)

You must have put some of that cheese in your bike, now its paying you back.

Seriously though, sounds like everybody else said. What exhaust are you running?

Re: farting noise

Before you do anything, make sure the farting sound is from the bike. I was riding my bike the other day, and I heard a farting sound. I then realized that the sound was emanating from the rider.
