95,900 rattles for 5 secs after rev?

Hi all just wondering if anyone can tel me why my 95 900rr rattles for about 5 seconds straight after you give it a rev,sounds like a chainy sort of rattle top end?pls help

Is it coming from the right side of the engine? Might be cam chain tensioner not working properly.

I have only done the job on my 600f3 and 929 so I can only speak to those. It should be a fairly easy job, just a bit of tough to reach some of the parts. Search the archives for the basic instructions. There are two options for replacement. One is the manual chain tensioner, and the other the stock automatic tensioner. Both sides of the camp have particular reasons why one is better than the other, so I'll leave which option is better up to you.

Its an easy job. Two bolts hold the tensioner which is mounted to the outside of the block on the far right of #4 cylinder. Plenty of vendors sell aftermarket manual tensioners. Many racers replace the OEM tensioner with a manual tensioner such as supplied from APE. Honda is known for cam chain tensioner issues/noise. My personal experience with these started back in the day of the 600F2.

I do all my own stunts.
