CBR 1000RR 2009 ABS PROBLEM-HELP

Hi,if anyone know is it posible to block ABS and get manual brake that will work properly-if you ask me why than it is because my signal code-flashes are telling me that abs control unit is faulty and I would like to get manual brake back.
At the same time are brake calipers for not ABS model same by size for ABS MODEL and can I just change them to get manual brake.

thanks a lot

Re: CBR 1000RR 2009 ABS PROBLEM-HELP

Can you lock up the rear brake to prove the ABS is not working ?

Plus, why not get the bike back to your dealer as it is pretty new still ?

Re: CBR 1000RR 2009 ABS PROBLEM-HELP

If the bike has been down the road, and the ABS is faulty, I would get it looked at by the dealer before you put many more miles on.

You need to know everything else is ok.

Sounds like a road trip with a trailer or van is required.

Stay safe

Re: CBR 1000RR 2009 ABS PROBLEM-HELP

If you have dropped the bike you can check for obvious things like broken wires to the abs sensors at the wheels, the pickups on the wheels are straight and the sensors mounts are not bent etc

I beleive you can disconnect the abs (Honda disconnected the system for journalists doing a comparison test) and have the brakes working as normal but I don't know how and honda won't make it common knowledge for safety reasons, law suits etc.

Re: CBR 1000RR 2009 ABS PROBLEM-HELP

Generally when the ABS senses a problem with the system and sets the ABS light, it reverts back to normal braking which should function fine. You will just no longer have any ABS.

hi,following the book signal code says faulty combined unit, because it is very expensive I replaced front brake hoses from ABS-my bike and placed front brake hoses from non ABS model,at same time I had blocked ABS regler on my bike and it has stoped air going into front valve, the rest of things are same. yellow light on instument or control meter table will be on but who cares the problem has been resolved. thank you.

Bored with ABS, you mean it was that intrusive? I would have thought from what I read about the CBR system that even on the track it was quite useful.

Are you Troy Bayliss by chance?

Re: CBR 1000RR 2009 ABS PROBLEM-HELP

I'm confused John, why was it cheaper to turn it in to a non abs model. Did you sell the bits ?

From what I have read, I thought the ABS was supposed to be awesome.

Each to their own though mate
