cold-tested 1000RR live

Couple of things an 954-owner noticed
- looks way better live than in pictures (even our crappy euro-colours cannot ruin the looks); overall design sharper than in 954 (without looking like a Vorlon warship like yamaha), cannot help feeling that my 954 now looks outdated
- plenty of swingarm clearance (> 2 inches) to run 190/55 tires; if not so much hugger clearance
- radiator looks huge when compared with the one in 954
- more race-oriented ergos (bars noticeably lower and pegs higher than in 954), but for some reason does not feel uncomfortable even for a tall person (I'm 189 cm)
- same store had black ZX-10R also on display, looks also better than in pictures, but not CBR1000RR caliber IMHO when it comes to styling

Got a pretty aggressive trade-up offer for my 954 (same store, same salesperson I bought the 954 from two years ago) and I'm starting to get the feeling I'll soon be ordering one. Do I need one? Propably not, but around 25-30 trackdays next summer will give me plenty of time to enjoy a new toy should I choose to get one. Delivery date (unconfirmed) was said to be May 12th, which sounds quite late, given this early.

Re: cold-tested 1000RR live

"cold-tested" means a serious wheel-kicking session and "serious" seat-time on stationary bike. I did a few laps around my favourite track (on a still stationary bike), but only in my imagination (considerable better lap times though than with 954 ) It's minus 5 degrees celcius with 30 cm snow here so no testdrives for a couple of months...

I actually agreed the deal on the phone a couple of minutes after the original post, one euro-black/gray 1000RR incoming

If you take care of transport cost of my bike (air-freight; about 12 hours flight one-way), no problemo you can try it However, I feel it may be cheaper for you to buy your own

Thanks, I was planning to do a back-to back comparison on them (both bone stock), street only though. Pictures? Upgrade your Internet connection, there will be plenty I can't wait until may.

Re: cold-tested 1000RR live

The dealer in Monterey, CA said they would be in his store before Daytona according to his rep.

I look forward to corners like a dog waits for dinner…

Re: cold-tested 1000RR live

One thing I like the sound of on the new blade is that seat/tank is supposed to be further foward, as on the 954 it feels as though I cant get far enough foward and in the process of trying sometimes wedge myself too hard up against the tank and "little jungleboy" ends up a bit sore after a ride if you know what I mean? Does anybody else feel like this?
