Check Oil Level...

Ok here goes a stupid question but cant find the answer.. when checking oil on an sc28 with the dip stick do you take a reading by simply diping it it or do you screw it in?

Can't seem to find this info anywhere in a manual... P.S. I hate that frickin dip stick, why couldnt they just put a look window like every other bike on the planet?

Re: Check Oil Level...

Usually you need the bike to be upright and level, with the dip stick not screwed in.

You never screw a dipstick in when checking the level and the bike must be vertical.
I agree about dipsticks - they suck.

pushed in, not screwed in.

Agreed, the sightglass is an easier indicator.

Re: Check Oil Level...

Just to be awkward, I prefer the dip stick. Checking the oil level on my FireBlade is awkward as the sight glass is so low - balancing the bike upright while trying to bend down far enough to see it gets me twisted up like a pretzel. I find the dipstick on the VFR much easier.
