Ok guys I need some help.......

'00 929. I changed the thermostat, which the previous owner had apparently cut the mechanical parts out and kept the metal ring as a gasket. I did not remove the throttle body to get to the thermostat like the manual says to. ( i did not want to disrupt the throttle body gasket). I put everything back together. Replace the fluids and made sure the radiator cycled, but did notice what seems like a sputter.... threw on my riding gear and............. When I accelerate it seems to not be running right. I can't say it is a miss, but it is maybe sucking air from somewhere.

Should I order all new gaskets for my airbox? Has someone else had this problem and know what it is?

I tore it back down and reassemble to find that I had not missed anything and the problem still exist.

I appreciate any and all help, including any smart ass remarks I may deserve.

Re: Ok guys I need some help.......

Cant say I actually hear a vacuum leak, but the exhaust sounds deeper which I would assume it is some sort of air leak. If I have to I will replace all of vacuum lines.....
Today i am going to spray around the bottom of the air box with some ether and see if I can get the idle to climb. I checked the vacuum lines and did not see any problems.

Did you replace the thermostat because it was overheating?

If so, replace the plugs.

Re: Ok guys I need some help.......

i replaced the thermostat because it basically didn't have one. The previous owner cut the damn thing apart to apparently get an open flow?????????
The old one is on the right.

Oh I misunderstood.

Well same difference, the engine isn't operating at the right temp it can foul or burn the plugs depending on which way it's going.

Just replace the plugs (check the gap) and I'm pretty sure your problem will go away.

Re: Ok guys I need some help.......

Did you take the injestors out for any reason? If so check the o-rings on the botom of the injector. I ran circles because of that one time I changed engines.
