Hi to anyone who can help/advise. I have been re building my 1998 fireblade over the past 6 months. The bike is in standard red and white UK colours and has covered about 9k miles.
I have installed a 1998 VFR 800 single sided swingarm and wheel. Had it all properly machined so that it fits perfectly with all bearings in place, so yes it can be done. The effect is superb, how Honda should have made them.
At the front i have installed a 2002 upside down fork set up complete and a 17" wheel from an SP1 with Galfar wave discs, Gilles rear sets.
Everything has been re valved, sprung and re built and anodised/powder coated so that the effect is stunning, i am really pleased with how it is turning out.
I wanted to create something different but with Honda parts so that it looks stock but using the original 'classic' blade.
It is nearing completion front and rear end all installed. I don't know if people still do these conversions as i know they were popular several years ago, but as the bikes get older i guess not so popular.
For anyone interested i have photo's of how she looks at various stages of the re build. Not sure how to post them on here but if anyone can guide me through adding photo's to a post i am happy to put them on the site.
Probably still a few weeks away from completion, bodywork and tank not yet installed as i am just currently installing an undertray and i need to get the akrapovic system altered to exit high level and sort out the rear brake line.
Other than that she is not too far away from being finished.
This leads me onto my request for any info on tuning the engine. I want to try and get about another 25-30bhp over stock and will be running a full Akrapovic system i guess with the correct stage dynojet and filter kit. Can anyone advise how best to progress from here. I want the engine to remain reliable and rideable rather than try and extract too much power and ruin the thing.
I live in the Kent area so any help would be very much appreciated.
Thanks to anyone who is interested or can help.
