929 started pinging, any ideas why?

2000 929, full Erion exhaust and a power commander. The bike has about 25k miles on it. Changed the plugs and checked the valves about 3 months ago. Recently the bike has started pinging if you roll on the throttle in the lower rpm's. I'm not sure if it does its still happening in the higher rpm's because i wouldnt be able to hear it. The fuel economy has gone up just a little bit recently too for no apparent reason. I've also gone through about 4 tanks of gas from different stations with no change. Always ran premium. Anything i could check?

And it definately wasn't doing this before?
If you give it a lot of throttle at low revs in high gears it will be prone to pinging. Old fuel and high temperatures will increase the tendency.
If your fuel ecomony has dropped, check the fuel pressure regulator vaccuum line.

I'm positive it wasn't doing it before. I'm thinking it could be the increase in temperature around here since its starting to warm up. The fuel economy has has gone up not down.

You're getting further out of a tank of fuel?
Might be worth checking the map hasn't altered.
