1st bike 2 repairs need help

hey guys i just picked up a 95 900rr with a 98 929 motor in it. 75000kms.

needs a right side crank case cover and a front left fork seal.

i looked for a while and found some cheep used ones off 01 929 bikes will these fit my bike? (crank case cover)

as for the fork seal i think i will have to take it in for that as the repair i know nothing about.

has stainless header, yoshi pipe, cf reflectors and thats all i know so far. just picked er up yesterday. runs and rides great. lots of power.

Edit: sorry it is a 900cc 1998 motor check 5 posts or so down for new info.

Re: 1st bike 2 repairs need help

They did not make a 929 in `98. Check the numbers on your engine first and then start from there in my opinion. But if you have a 929 engine it should fit.

The 929 engine does not fit the 900RR frames without extensive modification.

'96-'99 are 919cc engines so I think you've misheard.
929 engine covers will not fit the 900RR engine.
The engine number will be SC SC28 for the 893 '92-'95 engines, SC33 for the 919 engines and SC44 for the 929 engine.

He merely stated there was one there so I was going off of the premise that major mods had taken place. Sorry for not being more specific.

That's just an aesthetic cover.
Fits all 919cc engines '96-'99.
Honda OEM Parts: COVER, CENTER - Cheap Cycle Parts
The 893cc engines don't have it.
The CB919F Hornet has the same cover but a different part number so you may be able to use one of those as well.
OEM Parts Honda 919 (CB900F) 2003 RIGHT CRANKCASE COVER - Cheap Cycle Parts
As I said, the engine number is SC28 for the 893cc engines and SC33 for the 919cc engines. The Hornet engines are different but I can't recall right now what their code is.
The engine number is stamped into a block above the clutch cover. The capacity is cast into the water jacket on the right side I think.

Re: 1st bike 2 repairs need help

Fork seals are pretty easy to do. I wouldn't be intimidated by that. Just do some research. Also...there are some tricks to checking your fork seals with film or feeler gauges in case you have crud stuck in there. You might not need one after all.

Make your own one of these with some 35mm film.

mine had a similar hole, i had it ali welded then linished it back, polished it with some 500 grit wet n dry, then sprayed it from a rattle can.

nobody has noticed it so must be ok, all in all, it cost me 10, using a can of paint i had lying around in my shed, all the cash went to the dude who did the welding

Isn't the cover plastic though?
