Early blade cracked forks

Hey all, i recently took my 93 fireblade in to the garage to have the fork seals replaced, when i collected the bike the guy at the garage told me that one of the cast pieces on the end of the fork had a 3 inch crack in it!!Has anyone else ever heard of this?
So my problem now is getting hold of either an end piece or full set of forks for an early blade which so far appears to be like rockin horse s**t!
Does anyone know if i can use forks from a newer model and what would need changing to do this?Or maybe the fork ends off newer forks will fit my forks? I have no idea whats likely to fit? any help much appreciated, thanks in advance

Re: Early blade cracked forks

.. If you have to replace the full setup.. I would find out what Front end you can run and upgrade it.

Something like an RC51 setup.

Re: Early blade cracked forks

all forks from 92-99 will fit, rrn, rrp, rrr, rrs, rrt, rrv, rrw, rrx models.
The uk fork recall was for the 929 and 954 fireblades, I don't remember the early carb blades having a recall, i may be wrong.

Re: Early blade cracked forks

Yea the forks will fit but the spacing for the caliper mounts differ on the 98-99 for the bigger discs, also the early blades had no compression adjuster on the lower fork.

Just look for any bar the 98-99 forks. It would be far cheaper to buy a used bent set like i did just for the lower sections.

Re: Early blade cracked forks

Thanks for the help guys firstly gonna give honda a call see bout this recall if no joy there i think im gonna try what slapsider suggested and swap the ends off some bent forks, failing that i will just sell the bike broken minus the price it will cost to fix, slapsider do you know if the ends off any blade forks are compatable with mine?
